Echey Gaon is surrounded by great hiking trails and trekking routes at different levels of difficulty. While you hike or trek at your own pace, you’ll mesmerized by sudden openings to immense beauty – those viewpoints include Tinchuley, Jalsa, Ramitey Dara which offers panoramic vista of mighty river Teesta curving 14 times through the Himalayan rocks. The turquoise water looks magical!
On a clear day you’ll experience the heavenly view of snow-clad peaks of Mt. Kanchenjunga glittered in the golden Sun. Cameras fall short to capture the beauty.
At Tinchuley, you’ll catch a panoramic view of Sikkim, Jelep La, Nathula. You can hike 6km to the ancient monument of Damsung Fort which was built during the time of a Lepcha ruler in 1690s. Today’s ruins are testaments to the Anglo-Bhutan War.
At Jalsa you’ll be awestruck by the Cinchona plantation. You can also visit the historic colonial era Jalsa Bunglow built by the British plantation exploiters.
